Pawesome Gear has sourced out quality clothing items at the best price possible. Unfortunately we can not use the same wholesaler for all of our items (but we are working on it). Each product has table of measurements please use these measurements too assure you receive the correct size for your pet.
Below are instructions on how to correctly measure your pet below. Keep in mind, purchases that are incorrect size cannot be returned once your pet had tried them on, it’s best to be sure before ordering. This is for the protection of our furry friends 🙂 See our returns policy for more info.
Using the measurements to size your pet correctly.
1. “Chest Girth”
Measure the size of your dogs chest, at the widest point. This is generally found directly behind the front legs and up and over the back, or alternatively the thickest part of the body. This is the most important measurement of the clothing. Leave a little slack for movement and if you’re unsure, always buy a size up.
2. “Back Length”
The Length measurement is from the base of the neck, to the base of the tail. Back length will not matter if the chest measurement is not accurate. Use this more as a guide to how low your outfit will be on your pet’s back.
3. “Neck Circumference”
The neck measurement is taken around the dogs neck where their collar would naturally sit.
This is the least common measurement we use as it is the hardest to find a size correctly. (A 7 kg pug has a completely different body shape and size then a 7 kg dachshund)
Puppies will out grow their clothes, so please take this into consideration when purchasing. Small dogs are generally fully grown between the age of 7-8 months, medium to large breeds take a little longer, approximately 1-2 years. Please check with your vet for exact times regarding your breed.
